Everyone can learn the skills.
Not everyone is meant to do the work.
Yes, you’ll learn how to take vitals, give bed baths, and complete your daily tasks. That’s the job. But being a CNA is so much deeper than a checklist.
Let’s talk about what really matters, empathy.
You can’t fake it. You can’t memorize it. And honestly… it’s not something I can teach you.
Empathy is innate. You either have it or you don’t.
Doing your tasks on time doesn’t make you empathetic, that makes you responsible. But standing at a patient’s bedside and thinking, “How would I feel if I were laying here, needing help?” That’s different. That’s where real care begins. You can care for patients all day long, but are you truly feeling what they’re going through?
Because your patients will know the difference. And trust me… it shows in how you speak to them, how you move, how you show up.
So, if you’re thinking about becoming a CNA, ask yourself this: Do I just want to do the job… or do I want to truly care for people?
Lead with empathy. Always.
